DJING
Dr. Doof
While I have only been djing for about 2 years, it has became one of my favorite hobbies. Scrolling through social media watching Boiler Room sets, and exploring new corners of electronic, house, and dance music expands my mindset on what I can do as a DJ in the future.
When I started, my sets were built from Spotify playlists — loose collections of tracks I would freestyle with for hours. (Endless thanks to my roommates at the time, who patiently endured me perfecting a single transition for twenty straight minutes.) Those early sessions taught me that persistence, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment music.
SoundCloud is now my go-to, where I dig for underground artists, remixes, and tracks that deserve a spot in a future set.
Each song I play while djing is freestyle but also picked intentionally for the people within the crowd. Whether it’s a small crowd of friends or a room full of strangers, the goal is the same to curate something where people let go and have fun.
